Aston Villa (Anfield) - Match Preview & Discussion Thread (September 3)
It's Heroes v Villains on Sunday before the first international break of the season disrupts everyone's lives.
Match Preview and Metrics
Liverpool welcome Unai Emery’s revitalised Aston Villa to Anfield on Sunday. The Spaniard replaced Steven Gerrard last November - with Villa in 16th - finishing the season in 7th, six points behind the Reds.
They lost their opening fixture this season 5-1 at Newcastle but have since recorded back-to-back wins against Everton (4-0) and Burnley (3-1), with many observers tipping the Villains as challengers for the Champions League qualification places over the months ahead.
