With the completion of this fixture, it is Arsenal that will have a game in hand over Liverpool for the next few weeks, due to this fixture being brought forward as a result of the Reds reaching the Carabao Cup final on March 16.

This will be Aston Villa’s third home match in a row which will be followed by a fourth when they host Chelsea on Saturday, whereas this is Liverpool’s third match away from Anfield in the space of ten days, so if you are going to average a game every three days, not having to travel makes things a whole lot easier, which made Aston Villa’s request to move this fixture a strange one.
