Double Tomkins Times Anniversary – And TTT is the No.1 Football Site on Substack
We get knocked down, but we get up again
It’s now a year since mothballing the old TTT (www.tomkinstimes.com) and moving the paywall, community and the new articles to Substack.
And as TTT first launched in mid-September 2009, it’s also our 14th anniversary overall.
I also recently discovered the Sports leaderboard for Substack, and TTT is not only the top-grossing football (footy!) site, it's the only site in the top 20 that isn't about American sports (bar one American one about golf).
At the time of writing, TTT sits 18th for paid subscriptions to sports Substacks, which isn't bad at all.
(Albeit Substack likes to make plurals from paid subscriber numbers, so a hundred becomes 'hundreds' and a thousand becomes 'thousands'.)
It also means that a lot of annual subscriptions taken out a year ago will be due for re-billing (which happens automatically, unless cancelled), and the people who had paid via the old site but had access applied manually to this site should soon be required to pay via Substack, if not having already done so (any payments are not taken until your full carried-across time expires).
Still Alive!
It's been a challenging year in almost every way imaginable, but it's the paying subscribers who have kept this boat afloat.
(Albeit anyone who reads and shares the work is appreciated, too.)
Like the Reds in the past year, I've been through the wringer, and so has TTT. Like the Reds, things are slightly better now, after some very hairy moments.
(Albeit, despite my best efforts, I couldn't shift out Chris and Daniel to Saudi Arabia, while their bid for Gary came after the deadline.)
As such, I thought I'd give subscribers an update on what's happened, what's due to happen, and what may happen.
That said, it's hard to predict anything in life ... apart from death, taxes, and Paul Tierney being involved in a Liverpool game (and making another shitty decision).
