Exceptional Florian Wirtz To Liverpool Now Seems Realistic
How to improve an already excellent team
I wasn’t taking the Florian Wirtz stuff that seriously, and when Man City pulled out due to finances I assumed Wirtz and his camp were asking too much, as were Leverkusen.
Then, while I can see Liverpool paying £100m (or more) for a player, I couldn’t see someone coming in on wages matching, let alone topping, the big earners; as that’s not been done at Liverpool for a long time. Plus, I always assume that the elite German international ends up at Bayern.
But the rumours rumble on.
Now there’s talk that Bayern are expecting to lose out to Liverpool, which is a sign of how brilliantly the Reds have transitioned from the lows of early 2023, through the Jürgen Klopp (German legend) rebuild, and onto the Arne Slot era, where the Reds not only won the league but topped the inaugural Champions League mega-group, which included a fully deserved 4-0 win over Wirtz’s Leverkusen.
