Hope For Liverpool, As Man City Seem Weaker This Season
While Reds have to focus on their own game, City have issues
Liverpool don't usually get anything at the Etihad (apart from a drubbing), and the draw was just another example of how City, with way easier fixtures than Liverpool so far, are falling well short in areas compared to last season (when they also won the league with ‘only’ 89 points).
Despite Liverpool going to City with four players who'd just played two games in South America and only just arrived back (while City rested key men), the Reds were pretty comfortable for a point.
Looking at City, they're not as strong as last season, and Liverpool are clearly far stronger than in 2022/23.
While City can often go on a dozen-game winning streak, that doesn't look as easy for them this season, as I will explain.
And while I've written about Liverpool's improvements, it's worth a quick delve into how City may come unstuck (that’s before the demotion, obviously, if FFP follows as it logically should if Everton are worthy of a 10-point deduction, but that’s likely to be next season).
I’ll also look at why Arsenal might not be as good as the table suggests.
