Paul Tomkins, Andrew Beasley, Daniel Rhodes and other TTT regulars will give their thoughts on the match for 24 hours after the game, so the article received via email is unlikely to be the final version. There's statistics from the match and videos too.

Post-Match Thoughts

Paul Tomkins

A comfortable win, again, with a slower first half and a sparkier second, and again only really conceding one chance of note (and another headed chance that wasn’t properly connected with).

It feels like the Reds don’t yet quite know when to attack, in case it’s too fast. (But the possession retention was off the charts, as Beez shows below.)

Unless it’s a total breakaway, there’s some hesitation; several good opportunities to cut through Brentford were ignored for safety possession in the first half. Maybe I need to adjust too, but perhaps the team is caught between the old style and the new, as happens in any transition.

There’s a nice mix of new and old, but also some uncertainty, as is to be expected. The substitutions have also been fairly conservative, as Arne Slots eases in to life at Liverpool without anything too dramatic; indeed, he hasn’t needed to.

The majority of my analysis and the analysis of the others follows for subscribers only.
