Here’s the thing.

Looking at actual points, actual goals scored and conceded, but also expected goals scored and conceded, Liverpool – on average this season – do better when the team has:

  • more 'newer' players;

  • more taller players;

  • and an average age below 28.4.

The underlying numbers, which I'll analyse below in this deep dive (along with detailing issues that don't involve data), show clear positive trends, as the 'newer' players are taller, faster, younger, but thus far, not always as 'lucky'.
