Over the years I've touted a few of the Reds' kids, but most recent ones failed to live up to expectations, albeit injuries often played a key role.
But Ben Doak and Stefan Bajcetic have been two of the youngsters I've proclaimed to be heading for the top when each was just 16. Now they're key members of the first-team squad, if not yet regular starters.
Both had challenging games (one on full debut, one in a first outing in anew position after six months out) on a LASK pitch more akin to a lawn with a mole infestation, but both had moments of real quality, determination and penetration.
Then there was also Mo Salah in yet another slightly different role.
As well as thoughts on the LASK game, this is a look at something a bit different from Jürgen Klopp to past seasons, and an analysis of some trends in his tenure and what might be a bit new.
But also, some really exciting parallels to 2019/20.
