Next up is the tiny matter of the visit of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to Anfield on Sunday.

This is the very definition of a ‘must not lose’ game for Guardiola’s side. Defeat would see the Reds move 11 points clear, not an insurmountable total but given the current form of both sides, it’s hard to see this City going on a significant winning sequence to haul in the Reds. Still, I wouldn’t be counting any chickens unless you specialise in fowl mathematics.
