Our last competitive match of January is trip to Holland where the result may decide if Liverpool finish 1st or 2nd in the Champions League group phase.

Liverpool’s 2-1 win against Lille last week sealed their place in the Champions League last 16, avoiding any involvement in a two legged play-off and rendering the result of this match meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

A draw would be enough for Liverpool to finish top of the table whereas a loss combined with Barcelona defeating Atalanta would see the Reds finish 2nd. PSV have more to play for given victory would make the difference between being seeded or un-seeded for the play-offs, with the Dutch outfit currently in 19th, two points adrift of the top eight.
