Quitting Football

Why bother? TTT Podcast #21

Someone asked why I still bother – if so many things depress me about the game, or skew against the Reds in terms of fairness.

So with Daniel, I wrestle with the whole idea of whether it’s worth carrying on, and why it’s so hard, in so many ways, to stop carrying on.

We love the sport, love the club, love Arne Slot (in a proportionate way), love (most of) our subscribers …

… but hate almost all of the overflowing torrent of increasingly unhinged football discourse, let alone the sportwashing, corruption, game-vandalism (timewasting, low-blocks, and general shitball), not to mention the Professional Gaslighting Match Officials Limited.

We ask ourselves if we’re the ones going insane.

For now, like desperate drug addicts, we carry on! But we wrestle with what is breaking our spirit – only, as ever to find new spirt by the end.

Huzzah! / Boo!
